Mauritania, seen from here.
Real places, practical preparation, local knowledge and stories from Mauritania.
Why Mauritanian Eye exists
Mauritania is hard to prepare for from abroad. Information is scattered, often out of date, and rarely written by people who live here.
Mauritanian Eye brings together what a traveller actually needs in one place: where to go, how to get there, what to prepare, and who to talk to once you are on the ground.
How it started

Mauritanian Eye was founded by Maawiya Allaf to connect real places, practical preparation, local knowledge and stories from Mauritania.
It started with films and answering travellers' questions, and grew into the platform you are reading now.
How we work
- We publish a record only after it passes the public-readiness check; drafts, missing-media records and pending community submissions stay private.
- Time-sensitive information such as borders, safety and paperwork is dated, sourced where possible and marked for confirmation before travel.
- Verified badges are reserved for approved people; public-source directory entries stay clearly marked as unclaimed until the owner confirms them.

What we are building next

More sourced destination pages, more locally confirmed updates, better route and transport information, deeper practical guides and simpler access to local help.
The team will only grow with real people and verified public profiles.
